Eden Educational Resource Centre, a volunteer-driven learning centre in Madurai set up a crowdfunding campaign on Donate-a-Book in September 2021. The children who typically visited the centre had been cooped up indoors for long periods of time, and school closures had interrupted their learning journeys at a crucial point of academic development. 

To rekindle their interest in learning and to raise their spirits, Eden Educational Resource Centre set out to establish street libraries in Tirumangalam, Madurai. Their aim was to raise funds to fill eight libraries with multilingual STEM storybooks from Pratham Books. The campaign was a success – they raised funds for 800+ storybooks for 250+ children. 

Photographs and videos that have come in show children poring over boxes of Tamil and English storybooks that Eden Educational Resource Centre received after their campaign concluded. The storybooks explore a plethora of themes – science, maths, technology, culture, wildlife, family and many more and will serve as a means to bridge the learning gap.
